Aliya Kovalenko (b. 1983, Sverdlovsk) — Russian artist and PhD in psychology.
She received her academic education at the Department of History of Ural State University named after A.M. Gorky and at the Department of Psychology of Yaroslavl State University.
She studied contemporary art at the Higher School “Sreda”, faculty of Contemporary Art, under Arseny Zhilyaev, Taisia Korotkova, and Nikolay Alekseev, and also in the studio of Viktor Melamed.
She began her artistic practice in 2015, gradually developing a distinctive visual language that explores existential themes — time, presence, meaning, and the essence of being.
Since 2021, she has been using mixed-media techniques in abstract-figurative painting, wooden sculpture, and large-scale spatial and land-art installations.
Since 2022, she has been working on two long-term projects: “The Invisible” and “Quiet Voices.”
Her works are held in private collections in Russia and the USA.
She lives and works in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
