Aleksandra Suvorova uses the artistic pseudonym Baroque Anarchist to emphasize her connection to art-historical references within her practice. She is a London-based visual artist inspired by the Baroque epoch and its dialogue with the contemporary world. Born during the Chernobyl disaster, she explores the quest for immortality through science and art, as well as the fragility and resilience of nature. She uses the garden as a metaphor for the human body, family, career, and anything we nurture and grow. Her background in Baroque painting and theatre design shapes her practice, enabling her to create bold works that address current issues.
She holds a BFA in Painting and an MFA in Stage and Costume Design from the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow, and a degree in Contemporary Painting from CAI (2012). She later earned a PhD in Theatre Design from the Russian Art Academy, designing 80 costumes for Hamlet at the Central Academic Theatre. In 2025, Aleksandra graduated from Turps London.
