Your dad bought you your first car,  a bright red Ford Fiesta.  You couldn’t stop smiling, brimming with excitement and pride. Your ticket to independence, your first real taste of the wider world waiting for you.

We stood there together, admiring it and I jokingly suggested you call it Noddy. You rolled your eyes unimpressed by my sense of humour, but the name stuck. Every time I see you pull away I felt a mix of happiness and nostalgia.
