Mother

Ishmael Fa | Stand : AB03

This heavy, poignant piece stands as a raw dedication to the boundless sacrifices of motherhood and the historical endurance of abused women. Viewed from behind, the figure’s back is heavily marked with repetitive horizontal lines, evoking the deep, enduring scars of systemic burden and silent suffering. A vivid, stitched wound rendered in deep red and purple anchors the lower torso, serving as a visceral testament to bodily trauma and physical sacrifice. Stripping away traditional, romanticized depictions of motherhood, the artwork confronts the viewer with the unvarnished reality of women who have surrendered their bodies and lives for their children across generations.
