Bridal Procession on the Hardanger

ARTEZAAR LLC | Stand : FB08-FB09-FB10-EB01-EB02-EB03-EB04-EB05

This drawing was inspired by the historic painting “Bridal Procession on the Hardanger” by Adolph Tidemand, which I first saw during a visit to the National Museum in Oslo.
The original is a large oil painting on canvas. I was especially impressed by its rich colors and the way they convey the beauty of the Norwegian landscape.
By drawing this scene on paper with colored pencils, I wanted to explore how the feeling of the original painting — its light, colors, atmosphere, and emotional impression — would change when using a different technique and materials.
Although my drawing keeps a connection to the composition of the original painting, I feel that its character has changed. To me, it feels lighter and more delicate.
