The Belvedere Torso (1430)
This work is an expert graphite rendering of Plate 63 from 'Charles Bargue' Drawing, depicting the iconic Belvedere Torso. Created at the world-renowned Angel Academy of Art in Florence the piece was produced under the exacting guidance of Maestro Michael John Angel.
The Belvedere Torso is a 1.59m high fragmentary marble statue of a male nude, known in Rome since 1430, signed on the front of the base by 'Apollonius', son of Nestor 'Athenian', who is not mentioned in ancient literature. It is now in the Museo Pio-Clementino (Inv. 1192) of the Vatican Museums in Rome, Italy.
