“The boat is safer anchored at the port; but that is not the aim of the boats.” - Paulo Coelho
The Deira Creekside is a part of Old Dubai, offering nostalgic glimpse of the city's trading past. It is located alongside Dubai Creek connecting the historic districts of Deira and Bur Dubai. It is an important waterway in the heart of the city, supporting the city’s commercial activities.
The artist paints the historical hub in the background, in earthly shades of browns, under the morning blue sky and white, wispy clouds, where the glistening river connects the two districts.
Abras (traditional wooden boats) that have been used as the cheapest mode of transportation are painted in shades of yellows and browns to bring out the rugged wooden textures of the boat.
While the abras are the focal subject showcasing the old Dubai's heritage and scenic mode of affordable transport between two districts, the artist adds heavy flock of birds flying across the calmness of the morning creekside.
