“So throw away the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor.” - Mark Twain

Abras which means 'crossing or passage' are traditional boats made of wood transporting people and goods between Bur Dubai and Deira. Used as water taxis crossing the Dubai Creek for centuries, they now offer an authentic cultural experience.
The artist uses the waters of Dubai Creek and abra as her inspirational subject for this painting, set under the sunset sky where the skylines of Dubai Creek glow in faded vision. The artist's focal subject is abra, which is a half boat and half raft made of wood. The background of setting sky creates the afterglow of sunset and fading orange skyline of the Dubai Creek.
Darker shades of ultramarine blue and greys define the rippling waters of the Creek, while the rustic shades of browns and yellows bring about the wooden surface and textures of the traditional boat.
The artist added the wooden plank in the corner that anchors the boat to give a subtle hint of the other shore
