My art is a spiritual journey centered on 'Meditation,' inspired by the majestic silence of the Himalayas. I explore the unity between the universe, nature, and the human soul, depicting snowy mountains as divine entities and star-filled indigo skies as symbols of infinity.
Technically, my work is rooted in 'Chaesaekhwa,' a traditional Korean coloring technique applied on 'Hanji' (mulberry paper). Unlike Western oil painting, I use natural pigments derived from minerals and soil mixed with animal glue. This labor-intensive process involves applying multiple layers to create deep, resonant colors that permeate the paper rather than just sitting on the surface.
Through the contrast of stark white mountains and the deep blue void, I visualize the energy of the universe. Ultimately, my art invites viewers into a state of contemplation and inner peace, delivering a message of healing and the recovery of our lost connection with nature.
